Aarhus Jazz Orchestra presents: Slayer Big Band Project

Usually you would not think that heavy metal music and a big band would have anything in common. But there are more similarities than you would think.

The audience will witness a crazy combination of ripping metal guitars, a female vocal, jazz wind players and roaring drums, when Aarhus Jazz Orchestra presents their Slayer Big Band Project at this year’s SPOT Festival.

At first it might not seem as if Slayers hardcore metal and jazzy big band music can be combined, but the two genres actually have more in common than you would think. Several of the musical values from the metal scene are actually also found in the big band and jazz world.
Often both genres appreciate a fairly high level of complexity, they both use riffs and both metal and big band are known for the ability to bring a hard-hitting and grand sound to the stage.

Line-up at SPOT
At SPOT Aarhus Jazz Orchestra will be assisted by musicians from Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra and use arrangements by Axel Claudius Knappsmeyer. Aarhus Jazz Orchestra was formerly known as Klüvers Big Band.
