MXD: Networking Lunch
The turnout was great, the atmosphere was good and the German focus was obvious at the MXD lunch at City Hall.
Thomas Rhode who is the head of MXD said that this year more than 350 international guests from 18 countries will be present at SPOT Festival. About 300 Danish and international industry and media people RSVP’d for the event at City Hall. According to Thomas Rhode this is very much in sync with one of the major purposes of both SPOT and MXD – to get Danish and international industry and media people to network. And networking seemed to be the theme of the day.
The international and Danish industry and media had barely arrived at City Hall before the networking started. They found people they knew and people they wanted to know and started talking – but when the mayor began his speech, they briefly stopped talking.
The mayor of Aarhus welcomed the international guests and told them how proud the city of Aarhus is of the SPOT Festival, because it is a festival with the city in the center. He also made sure to give a special welcome to the many German guests.
MXD and SPOT have this last year increased the effort in the German market and yesterday German industry and media people arrived in busses from Köln, Berlin and Hamburg. And this was noticeable both by the German and Danish people present.
Florian and Florian from the German Sparta Booking said that they were at SPOT both to meet Danish industry people but also to meet up with their German partners – and of course to see some new Danish bands. The two touring agents mentioned I Got You On Tape, Shiny Darkly and Green Pitch and many others, as bands on their wishlist.
Another group from the Danish/German label Für Records said that the networking began in the busses, where people discussed the many bands on this year’s program. The people from Für were especially interested in the InterSPOT projects, but were also looking forward to Bottled in England.
