The SPOT Festival is rapidly approaching. Now the timetable has been revealed so you can plan your festival. Moreover, Danish MØ and Meneo from Guatemala have been added to the line-up, and if you want to be up-to-date on what’s happening at SPOT, we suggest you check out or mobile site or download our app.

The 2012 SPOT Festival will open the doors in a fortnight and the last details are now falling into place so you can see when the bands you want to hear will be playing. You can find the wheres and whens for each band at their respective entry on the line-up page at this site. A timetable is on its way.

With the concert schedule now official it goes without saying that the last acts have been booked by now. The two latest additions to the line-up are Meneo from Guatemala and Danish Mø

Additions and cancellations
Among the instruments Meneo (picture) employs are old Gameboys when he creates hybrid genre, which he has named electropical beats – it is 8-bit at its coolest. He has been added to the line-up thanks to one of the long-standing collaborators of the SPOT Festival – the Spanish magazine Zona de Obras, which is also behind the Nordic festival Días Nordicos, which takes place each autumn in Madrid. In other words a concert that epitomizes our cultural exchange.

MØ will demonstrate ElectroCrunkPop at SPOT

In the Danish department we have , who has recently returned from New York, where she finished writing her debut album. Her sound is electronic, massive and yet it contains an irresistible pop appeal. Her vocals range from everything between crunky rap and dark, compelling walls of notes. When it’s all brought together it becomes a genre of it’s own – and she calls it ElectroCrunkPop.

There are, however, also a couple cancellations: Ignug has been forced to cancel and the same goes for Il Tempo Gigante, who was to be part of the InterSPOT line-up, where he was supposed to play with Austrian Garish. Instead Garish will now play a regular concert at this year’s SPOT

SPOT on the cellphone
Once again SPOT has got a mobile site this year as well as an app for iPhone. If you go to www.spotfestival.dk on your smartphone you will automatically be transferred to our mobile site, where you can keep updated about what happens at the festival. If you have an iPhone, you may download an app from App-store. Both on the mobile site and on the app you can design your own personal schedule so that one glance at the phone is enough to make sure you don’t miss any of your favorite bands.

SPOT Listener’s Guide from BibZoom.dk
This year we are happy to present a collaborative project with the digital service of the Danish libraries, BibZoom.dk. Among other things the editorial staff at BibZoom.dk have produced a sound guide for the festival so that it is possible to check out all the bands and download the sound guide for free here. On top of that BibZoom.dk also arranges Artist Talk, where you can meet various Aarhus bands that play at SPOT. It takes place on Saturday 5th May at 12:30 at Aarhus Hovedbibliotek (the main library), where the artists will be happy to answer questions and tell the audience about their winding roads to SPOT. Furthermore, BibZoom has also compiled a list of albums by SPOT acts for download here.

The collaboration between the Danish libraries and SPOT has also spawned a special music library conference for music librarians entitled “SPOT on Music Presentation in the Future”. Click here to read more about the conference (in Danish)
