Hannah Schneider, Naja Rosa and Venue Lab – pop, experiments and a healthy mix of both at SPOT

Hannah Schneider, Naja Rosa and Venue Lab – pop, experiments and a healthy mix of both at SPOT

At SPOT there is room for catchy pop, new modes of presentation and unpredictable experiments. Check out a package of no less than nine acts at Atlas and a concert experiment at Radar with brand new songs – written only days before SPOT.

The first act in the package at Atlas is Naja Rosa, who will present the fruits of her journey through the American south, where a mobile home, rebuilt for the occasion, hosted recording sessions with quite a few heavenly blessed American blues musicians. We will also present Ignug, who will serve a refreshing cocktail of funky vocals, synthesizers sand rhythms which invariably take over the control of one’s feet! Asbjørn for his part has organic, electronica-inspired indie aces up his sleeve. It will also be an opportunity to check out Mads Björn’s atmospheric, spherical and subtle indie pop, and Ginger Ninja are set to ignite the festival with their dazzling rock. Stoffer & Maskinen are synonymous with sincere lyrics and wistful vocals in a highly emotional universe of synthetic colors of sound, and Hannah Schneider is sure to bring her inventive and sophisticated pop to the SPOT stage. Furthermore,  Kirsten & Marie will be there to showcase their unique blend of folk, pop, classical experimental music and new age, and finally there is Boho Dancer, whom we were happy to confirm last week.

All nine acts in this multi-colored bouquet can be seen on Saturday the 5th of May from late in the afternoon to after midnight at the SPOT Festival stage Atlas, and the line-up has been compiled in collaboration with Copenhagen-based booking agency PDH.
“Over the years SPOT has tried out several collaborative projects with the various players of the music business – with musicians, booking agencies, record companies organizations, etc. All of it because we are always on the lookout for new ways of presenting the music to our audience and our guests from the music business.  The PDH project is yet another example of this, and we will announce a couple more projects of the kind in connection with this year’s festival”, says Gunnar Madsen, managing director of SPOT

VenueLab – venue experiment Another new concept will be tested at SPOT when we introduce the live concert experiment VenueLab. Twelve musicians from very diverse genre worlds and with very different positions on the Danish music scene have been divided into three four-strong groups, and each of these groups will then be sent to a venue shortly before the SPOT Festival. The three teams then have three days to create brand new material for a concert of 3 x 30 minutes, with which they will go on a short, effective tour with SPOT as the final destination on Friday the fourth of May. At the time of writing nobody – not even the musicians involved – knows what the result will sound like. (Read an article about Venue Lab here)

Among the musicians involved are Anna Brønsted (Our Broken Garden), Steffen Westmark (The Blue Van), Oliver Hoiness (Kira Skov, Under The Sherry Moon, Skammens vogn), Spejderrobot, Naja Rosa and Ida Gard. As already mentioned Naja Rosa will also play her own music at SPOT, and the same is the case Ida Gard who will also play a gig of her own, where she will perform her luxurious pop songs with emotional depth in the lyrics and with her characteristically intense stage presence.
