InterSPOT: International and Danish acts engage in exciting mash-ups!
Inter SPOT has become a permanent feature at SPOT Festival. It is based on the following concept: five Danish acts are paired with five international acts and subsequently the pairs must perfrom on stage together a set consisting of four or five songs from each band’s back catalog.
Icelandic songstress Sóley (signed to a German record label) specialising in catchy folk melodies and soothing piano-tones has teamed-up with Danish female duo Darkness Falls whose music is a fusion of haunting dark pop, post-punk and ’60s guitar twang.
The second couple is Masha Qrella and Danish Dangers of the Sea. German Masha Qrella plays a mixture of pop and indie rock, while Dangers of the Sea revolve in a universe where indie pop meets melancholic folk rock.
The two pairs were selected by a Danish-German music press and industry jury. Their joint performances will be repreated later this year at an InterSPOT event in Berlin.
This project has been carried out in collaboration with VUT – the German organisation of independent German labels and music companies.
Additional InterSPOT offerings are the Luxembourg folk band The Luna Boots joining the Danish singer-songwriter Esther Maria; the Austrian indie-folk band Garish and Danish Il Tempo Gigante. Finally, last but not least Danish avant-garde popsters Marybell Katastrophy will join onstage German neo-classical composer Nils Frahm.
