Rangleklods, Shiny Darkly, Alphabeat, Icelandic Lay Low and 12 other bands for SPOT.
Good news for pop- boys and girls: Alphabeat is dropping by SPOT to make festive “letter exercises” with catchy words and happy rhythms. Alphabeat’s latest single – the upbeat and fresh song “Vacation” –radiates pure holiday-mood and sunshine. Give me a D as in D-vitamin!
Another act to be revealed for the line-up is the always inventive and great songwriter Nikolaj Nørlund. He will, among others, bring Christian Hjelm from Figurines who has been Nørlunds partner during the creation of his latest album “Alt Sammen, Lige Nu”. Larsen & Furious Jane is also on the poster. They were recently among the Danish nominees for the Nordic Music Prize and they provide an almost claustrophobic rock – bubbling with electronic details and sporadic noise explosions. Rangleklods will also pay the festival a visit with his club friendly compositions which unites the deep intensity of rock with the outgoing freedom of pop.
Indiana Dawn will play modern and Nordic country, showing a mild, sensitive and hotheaded temper, while Kristina Renée presents melancholic acoustic songs with a modern and electronic twist. Kúra brings melancholic dub with a rock expression along with them in the band bus and Faroese Marius performs his acoustic and personal alternative folk.
From other Nordic countries SPOT has picked up: Lay Low, who uses her beautiful Icelandic native language in songs with a sound of classic Americana and a touch of trip hop, Finnish Kap Kap, playing a shamanistic chanting, experimental rock and the festive Kemppainen sisters from the Finnish LCMDF – formerly known as Le Corps Mince De Françoise – who will perform rainbow colored pop hits with crazy whims and danceable rhythms.
New forms of collaboration
As previously announced SPOT will this year try out new models for collaborations between musicians, the audience and the music industry. Another example of this is Crunchy Club which is a triple showcase arranged in a collaboration between SPOT, Bobcat Agency and Crunchy Frog.
The first of the three names is Thee Attacks. According to the rumors they received a lot of praise for their vivacious rock music at the South By SouthWest Festival in Austin, Texas this year. The second name is Shiny Darkly who creates a dark and intense hallucinating noise pop. Third and final name is Snake & Jet’s Amazing Bullit Band who, with classic rock instrumentation, makes everything spin with deliciously sultry and super groovy rhythms.
We can also present two exiting musical collaboration projects, which both will enrich the festival with previously unheard sounds. Together with World Music Denmark new music is presented from the constellation Svøbsk & Michael Møller. Rumor has it that they have collected inspiration from both dark Americana and Nordic music. In the other project, the band collaboration from Copenhagen CopCol will perform an equilibristic live show, when a giant band of members from the collaboration performs music from their repertoire in versions remixed live on stage by the electronic musicians T. Finland & Mikkel Meyer.
